His six years of Postgraduate Specialty Training at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center were divided into two years of general surgery followed by four years of in-depth training in adult urology. During these years, he developed an avid interest in cancer surgery, benign diseases of the prostate, impotence, and stone disease.

Dr. Meaglia chose a career in medicine because he wanted to combine his zeal for science with helping people, and to make a positive effect on individuals' lives. In his practice, he enjoys getting to know his patients on a friendly basis, including their interests and needs.
