Heart Programs and Conditions

Aortic Program

Mission Hospital is the only hospital in Orange County that offers surgical repair of an aortic arch dissection – a condition that is nearly 100 percent fatal. In addition, skilled affiliated physicians can medically or surgically treat aneurysms and other conditions (e.g. Marfan syndrome, arthrosclerosis, hypertension) that affect the aorta.

Heart Failure

Mission’s Heart Failure Program specialists work to offer patients the most innovative medical and surgical treatments available, with lifestyle modification and medications beginning the process.

Coronary Artery Disease

Mission Hospital offers the latest therapies and treatments for coronary artery disease, a condition caused by the lack of blood flow to the heart muscle. From diagnostic services and the most advanced heart procedures, to rehabilitation and lifestyle management, Mission Heart Center has the programs to effectively treat and manage coronary artery disease.

We perform more than 1000 heart procedures each year, surpassing the recommended numbers needed to ensure patient safety and increase the likelihood of a successful outcome. We also offer other state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments including electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, the latest drug therapies, balloon angioplasty, stents, valvulopasty and more.

Hypertension

Mission Hospital offers the latest treatments for hypertension, from lifestyle management to medication. Our heart health experts work with patients to develop a treatment plan that may include diet, exercise and smoking cessation education.

Rhythm Disorders

Our electrophysiology lab uses advanced diagnostics to determine the severity and location of rhythm disorders, including 3-D mapping electrocardiogram, Holter monitoring or an echocardiogram.

Depending on the condition, Mission Heart Center employs many forms of treatment for arrhythmias, including medication, radiofrequency catheter ablation, pacemakers and more. We perform more than 300 pacemaker and cardioverters/defibrillator procedures each year at Mission Hospital and offer life-long follow-up support for our patients.

Valve Disorders

Mission Hospital affiliate board-certified cardiologists and registered cardiac diagnostic sonographers are skilled in diagnosing valve disorders using technology in the form of ultrasound, echocardiograms, and contrast studies. Once diagnosis occurs, our cardiac patients are appropriately treated with medication or surgical valve repair and replacement procedures that vastly improve the heart’s ability to pump blood.
